Olohije Emma; What Does Photography Means to You?
I am excited you asked me but first, let’s discuss TIME;
According to Wikipedia; “Time is the indefinite continued progress of existence and events that occur in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present on to the future”, however, that’s not how I see time. I see time as a cascading water from a waterfall that never stops flowing; it is equally a runaway bride that never stops to look at the groom she left behind.
Time puts a fade over our best memories. This is because the older we get the less we remembered clearly the beautiful moments we have lived through and the laughter we’ve shared with the ones we love. Time waits for no human, It ticks and tock’s away like a man running from his own shadows but, this is not the case anymore. You see, Photography did the impossible; IT FROZE TIME.
Originally meaning to “Draw from Light”. Photography is stealing from time’s stream one shutter at a time, it’s creating memories that would last several lifetimes over. Photography stops time whilst letting her waters flow, telling stories of lives lived, debunking myths and holding the future to a greater pedestal than the past.
So if you ask me again what photography means to me, I’d simply say; “It’s the greatest storyteller that’ll ever live”.
